Jersey Opera House launches recruitment drive as it plans next phase

Jersey Opera House is set to begin a major recruitment campaign tomorrow as it looks to strengthen its organisation and “realise its full potential”.

The theatre is recruiting for a range of senior, officer and casual roles as it enters its next phase following its reopening.

The campaign comes after a period of uncertainty at the Opera House, which saw several senior figures leave in 2025. Police chief Robin Smith was appointed chair of the theatre’s board earlier this year.

Former interim chair and long-serving board member Cyril Whelan left in June 2025, following the resignations of previous interim chair Dave Chalk and interim director Andy Eagle.

Chief executive Sebastian Warrack said the focus since reopening had been on more than restoring the historic building.

“Our focus has been not simply on bringing this extraordinary building back to life, but on building an organisation that can realise its full potential for Jersey,” he said.

He said the latest recruitment drive would bring additional skills and capacity to the organisation while continuing to develop its existing staff.

“There is a real sense of ambition for what Jersey Opera House can become,” Mr Warrack said.

“We want to create outstanding experiences for our audiences, provide opportunities for creativity and participation, and ensure the Opera House has the resilience and expertise to thrive for generations to come.”
