Jersey’s tourism body has unveiled a new range of hotel, flight and ferry deals in a bid to attract more holidaymakers after visitor numbers dropped sharply last year.
Visit Jersey has launched a dedicated web page promoting special offers and stepped up advertising across the UK, including on the London Underground. Figures for the year to October show 424,400 visitors travelled to the island, around 93,000 fewer than during the same period a year earlier.
The campaign promotes Jersey as a “tiny island bursting with experiences” and emphasises its friendly welcome. Chief executive Tricia Warwick said the new advert had been viewed more than 16 million times, with growing online searches suggesting rising interest in the island.
Tourism chiefs also believe the reboot of the TV drama Bergerac is helping. A Visit Jersey survey found more than 8% of visitors were influenced by the show, which returned in early 2025 following more than £1m in government support.
Local businesses have welcomed the push. Josh Dearing from boat tour operator Seafaris said tourists made up around half of his customers and described the offers as “very beneficial”. The Chamber of Commerce said partnerships with airlines and ferry operators could help drive recovery, predicting strong growth in ferry passenger numbers and highlighting new routes, including services to Amsterdam.
Hotel manager Christopher Peach of the Radisson said the initiative was positive but stressed businesses also needed to take responsibility. “We can’t rely solely on Visit Jersey,” he said. “If we want to see change, we have to be proactive ourselves.”
