Jersey Sees Inflation Edge Up to 2.8% as Costs for Food, Travel, and Leisure Climb
The pace of price increases in Jersey picked up between June and September, according to the latest figures from Statistics Jersey.
Its newly published Retail Prices Index (RPI) report shows that prices across the island rose by 2.8% in the year to September, marking a slight uptick in inflation over the summer months.
Officials attributed the rise largely to higher costs for food, motoring, and leisure activities — including entertainment, sports, and off-island holidays.
The Government of Jersey said it uses RPI data to guide decisions on pensions, social benefits, and other financial policies, while businesses rely on the figures to forecast and manage future expenses.
Among all spending categories, tobacco recorded the sharpest increase, followed by leisure services and motoring-related costs, the report found.
