Jersey will stage its inaugural Christmas Tractor Run on Sunday 14 December, with proceeds going to Jersey Hospice Care.
Fifty tractors decorated with festive lights and displays will take part in the parade, travelling more than 30 miles and passing through 10 parishes. Before the convoy sets off, judges will choose winners for Best Lit-Up Tractor and Best Dressed Driver.
A total of 16 public viewing points have been set up along the route to give spectators plenty of opportunities to watch the brightly lit procession.
While tractor runs are already a well-established festive tradition in parts of England and Europe — and Guernsey hosts an annual event that attracts around 100 entries — this is the first time Jersey has held one. The debut event has been organised by John Deans and Peter Barette.

Speaking about the excitement building around the project, Mr Deans said:“So many children love tractors — we’re all tractor-mad here. We’ve got a large number of young farmers, and if this goes well, we hope it will become an annual event. It’s going to be a great time for everyone. We’re just asking people to donate a few pounds where they can.”
Families are welcome to watch the parade from the designated viewing points, though organisers are urging parents to keep children safely away from the roadside.
All donations will support Jersey Hospice Care, and contributions can also be made online.
