Jersey Airport will operate earlier opening hours on two days this week as part of efforts to ease passenger flow during the busy Christmas travel period.

Ports of Jersey said around 20,000 people are expected to pass through the airport between Friday and Monday, making it one of the busiest stretches of the festive season.

The terminal will open at 05:00 on both Friday and Monday, 30 minutes earlier than usual. Travellers have been urged to allow plenty of time for check-in and security screening before boarding their flights.

Sarah-Louise Stubbs, head of customer experience and terminal operations, said the changes were designed to help passengers begin their journeys without unnecessary stress.

She said the earlier opening times, combined with advice to arrive in good time, would help ensure a smooth start to festive travel.

Passengers have also been reminded of security restrictions ahead of the holiday period. Gifts should not be wrapped in hand luggage as they may need to be unwrapped during screening, while Christmas crackers and party poppers are prohibited from being taken through the airport.
