Ferry tickets for travel between Guernsey and Jersey will be available for purchase starting this Wednesday, following recent negotiations between both islands' governments and three ferry companies.
Brittany Ferries, Guernsey's primary ferry operator, will begin offering weekly sailings between the islands every Wednesday from April. Meanwhile, DFDS, the company running Jersey's main ferry services, is planning to launch its own weekly route, with tickets expected to go on sale at a later date, according to the States of Guernsey.
Deputy Neil Inder, President of Economic Development, highlighted the high demand for these services, particularly from the islands’ tourism, sports, and cultural sectors. He acknowledged the frustration surrounding the delays in ticket sales.
Additionally, both governments are in discussions with Manche-Iles Express to potentially introduce more passenger ferries to further meet the demand.
Inder also noted a promising trend, with French passenger bookings to Guernsey up by 77% compared to the previous year.
