An inquest has heard that a 77-year-old man may have been dead for several months before his body was discovered at his home in St Helier.
Michael Arthur Gilligan, a widower, was found by police at his flat in Plaisant Court last May after his landlord alerted authorities to concerns about his wellbeing.
Evidence presented to the inquest suggested Mr Gilligan may have died towards the end of January 2025, based on information obtained from his bank statements.
The court was told that the advanced state of decomposition meant the exact cause of death could not be determined. However, officials confirmed that there were no indications of suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
