A bird of prey is currently receiving urgent veterinary care after suffering serious injuries in an incident believed to have occurred at Jersey Airport involving an aircraft.

The Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) reported that a male marsh harrier was taken into its care after it is thought to have been forcefully thrown to the ground with significant impact.

In a statement shared on social media on Sunday, the charity said it cannot be confirmed whether the bird was struck directly by a plane or affected by turbulence from an engine. Despite the uncertainty, the bird has survived the incident and is now undergoing intensive treatment.

Wildlife specialists working with the JSPCA have described the situation as critical, warning that the harrier’s condition remains extremely serious due to the extent of its injuries, with its survival still in doubt.
