Jersey’s festive ice rink looks set to make a comeback at the Weighbridge, with plans in place for it to run each winter for the next three years — subject to planning approval.

The seasonal attraction, run by Jersey Development Company (JDC), drew around 29,000 skaters in 2024. Alongside the rink, visitors enjoyed food and drink stalls, helping to cement its place as a highlight of the island’s Christmas celebrations.

Organisers say the event has become a central part of the community calendar, providing a family-friendly activity that appeals to all ages. The Weighbridge setting, close to St Helier’s marina, has hosted the attraction since 2023.

Last year, 1,800 primary schoolchildren received free skating tickets, and £15,000 from ticket sales was donated to five local charities, including Brighter Futures, Centrepoint and Variety.

The rink is privately funded and managed by JDC, meaning no cost falls on taxpayers. A decision on whether the ice rink and Christmas tree will officially return is expected in due course.
