Jersey Met has confirmed that last month was the warmest June since records began in 1894.
The island experienced an official heatwave, with three consecutive days exceeding 28°C, and the month ended with a record-breaking high of 33.4°C — the hottest June day ever recorded. This surpassed the previous record of 33.2°C set on 17 June 2022.
There were three days in total where temperatures soared above 30°C, and the average temperature for the month was 18.7°C — significantly above the 30-year average of 16.3°C.
The sea temperatures also rose, averaging 16.1°C compared to the usual 14.8°C for June.
Rainfall remained close to normal levels for the time of year, but sunshine hours exceeded the average, with 280.4 hours recorded — around 18 hours more than usual.
Looking ahead, Jersey is bracing for another heatwave, with temperatures expected to reach the high twenties from Thursday (10 July) and peak at around 30°C on Sunday (14 July).
As of now, the sea temperature is 17.3°C.
