Guernsey’s Chief Minister Lyndon Trott has admitted feeling "embarrassed" by a public disagreement between Channel Island politicians over a proposed inter-island ferry service.

The row erupted after Guernsey’s economic development head, Neil Inder, criticised Jersey Minister Kirsten Morel for suggesting Guernsey was less enthusiastic about a ferry proposal from operator FerryBridge.

Speaking at a Chamber of Commerce event, Trott said the spat was "regrettable" and better handled privately. Jersey’s Chief Minister Lyndon Farnham called the dispute "disappointing but not embarrassing."

Despite the tensions, both leaders stressed the importance of continued cooperation. Farnham noted that improving ferry services remained a shared goal, with several operators, including Brittany Ferries and DFDS, expressing interest.

Jersey Chamber of Commerce head Murray Norton called the dispute "politically immature" and urged politicians to act more professionally.
