Jersey Arts Charity Awards Grants to Support Emerging Talent

ArtHouse Jersey has revealed some of the successful recipients of the second round of its development grant programme, which aims to support artists pursuing creative careers and producing new work. The quarterly initiative offers both financial assistance and professional guidance.

Among the selected artists is Jack Evans-Rentsch, an actor and writer currently developing a comedy centered on the political quirks of remote island life. The short film, produced by Tiny Speck Productions, is set to be filmed on location in Jersey using local talent for both cast and crew.

Henry Matson, a member of the rock band FlashMob, announced that the group had received funding to produce a second EP. The four-piece band plans to record the new project by the end of the year. Matson praised the programme, saying:"The support that ArtHouse Jersey provides to local artists is invaluable. It creates opportunities that grassroots artists wouldn’t otherwise have."

Hanni El Dardiry Osman also received a grant to fund specialist skills training. He plans to learn how to safely operate a chainsaw to process timber for crafting handmade guitars. Osman, who builds acoustic guitars and other items such as jewelry, art frames, and wooden boxes, focuses on using sustainable materials in his work.

Filmmaker Sean Frost is another recipient. He writes, directs, and scores short films that explore meaningful social themes. With the grant, Frost plans to create a new cinematic project titled Memoriam, an 8–10-minute immersive short to be filmed in Jersey this autumn."ArtHouse Jersey’s generous grant will fund the majority of the budget for Memoriam," he said. "It’s a chance to deepen my filmmaking craft and share a story that resonates beyond the island."
