French Airline Extends Flights Between Brittany, Jersey, and Alderney
Government officials and the Ports of Jersey have welcomed a French airline’s decision to extend its service connecting Brittany, Jersey, and Alderney.
Finistair, which launched direct flights between Brest and the islands in June, had initially planned to end the service on 31 August. However, the airline has confirmed that flights will now continue through 14 September. These services provide direct air links between the islands for the first time in years.
Matt Thomas, CEO of Ports of Jersey, described the extension as an “encouraging decision,” highlighting that strong demand and positive passenger feedback demonstrate the value of this regional connection.
Loïc Andro, Finistair CEO, added that passengers “have shown real enthusiasm for these routes,” reflecting the success of the trial service.
The flights are offered in partnership with the States of Jersey, the States of Alderney, and the Ports of Jersey. Kristen Morel, Jersey’s Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, said:
“This summer’s success has shown that there is demand among Jersey residents to visit Alderney and Brest, as well as visitors from both destinations traveling to Jersey.”
Stuart Clark, Chair of the States of Alderney Economic Development Committee, said: “It’s fantastic to see the interest this trial generated in July and August. Extending the service into September allows us to better understand demand outside the peak holiday season.”
Finistair’s flights operate every Friday and Sunday, with a journey time of approximately 35 minutes from Brest to Jersey and 15 minutes from Jersey to Alderney.
