Jersey's fire service has issued a warning following the dramatic rescue of a dog stranded on a cliff ledge at Les Landes.
While a spokesperson described the rescue as "wonderful," they admitted the situation left crews with "hearts in our mouths" due to the risks involved. A video showed a volunteer retrieving the dog from a narrow ledge without using any safety equipment.
The fire service cautioned against such actions, saying the individual took a "significant risk" that could have resulted in serious injury or even death.
"We don’t want to diminish this successful rescue," the spokesperson said, "but we urge people not to attempt similar rescues in the future. This could very easily have turned into a human rescue."
They advised anyone facing a similar scenario to prioritize safety and call 999 for professional assistance.
