Jersey Post has announced it is increasing the number of collections from Amazon depots in an effort to reduce delivery times for customers in the island.

The postal operator said it is working closely with Amazon after residents reported waiting two weeks or more for orders to arrive in Jersey. While customers are being quoted extended delivery estimates, Amazon has not provided an explanation for the longer dispatch times.

Jersey Post said that once parcels reach the island, they are typically delivered within 24 hours. The organisation stressed that delays are occurring before items are collected from Amazon depots in the UK.

Chief Commercial Officer Tom Wasilewski said Jersey Post is responsible for parcels only after they are collected from Amazon. From there, items are transported to a UK consolidation centre before being shipped to Jersey on the first available ferry.

He said the company is reviewing how often it collects from Amazon facilities to see where improvements can be made.

“We are working with Amazon to identify where we can increase collections,” Mr Wasilewski said. “From our side, the operation is running within its usual service standards.”

Jersey Post said it would continue discussions with Amazon to better understand the cause of the delays and improve delivery times for island customers.
