Electricity bills in Jersey are set to rise by 2.5% from March 2026, Jersey Electricity has confirmed.

The utility said the change would mean an average all-electric household pays roughly £60 more per year, equivalent to just over £1 a week. The increase follows a 7.5% rise introduced in 2024, but the company stressed that the latest adjustment remains below both inflation and overall cost-of-living pressures.

According to JE, the additional revenue will contribute to what it describes as its largest investment programme to date, aimed at strengthening the island’s power network and preparing it for future demand.

Chief executive Chris Ambler acknowledged that any rise in household bills is unwelcome, but said the company had deliberately kept the figure lower than inflation.

“We’re beginning to see greater stability in global energy markets, which has enabled us to keep this increase modest,” he said. “Delaying the change until March 2026 also ensures customers won’t face higher charges during the colder winter months when usage is typically at its peak.”

Ambler added that Jersey’s electricity prices will remain “among the lowest in Europe and across the Channel Islands”.

“As we roll out the most substantial infrastructure upgrades in a generation, our pricing strategy and ongoing efficiencies allow us to maintain increases below the general rise in living costs,” he said. “We remain committed to delivering clean, reliable and affordable power while investing in the island’s future needs.”
