Ports of Jersey Weighs Options for Harbour Café After Failing to Attract Operators
The Ports of Jersey is reassessing the future of its passenger café at Elizabeth Harbour in St Helier after repeated attempts to find a company to run it drew no interest.
A tender process launched in 2020 failed to attract any applicants, despite efforts to engage local hospitality businesses. Deputy Kirsten Morel told the States that JPRestaurants, which already manages catering at Jersey Airport, had been approached by Ports of Jersey to operate the harbour café as a result.
The current agreement with JPRestaurants is due to run until 2026, but a subsequent round of tendering again produced no interest from other firms. Deputy Morel said Ports of Jersey is now “exploring alternatives for next summer” as it seeks a long-term solution for the site.
