Danish shipping firm DFDS is conducting berthing trials in Jersey today with its 143-metre vessel, Seven Sisters, as part of its bid to become the next Channel Islands ferry operator.
The ship, which currently serves the Dieppe to Newhaven route, can carry 600 passengers and 224 cars.
The trials are part of government contingency plans to assess supply-chain resilience. DFDS is competing with current operator Condor and Irish Ferries for the contract, which expires in 2025.
No disruptions to ferry schedules are expected, and Seven Sisters will also conduct trials in Guernsey.
