Film crews are back in Jersey shooting scenes for the second season of TV drama Bergerac.

The much-loved 1980s crime series, which follows a troubled detective navigating life, love and complex investigations, was rebooted earlier this year. The new season promises more twists, including romantic developments for key characters and a mystery centred on a Jersey wedding.

Jersey remains central to the production, with the island once again providing the backdrop for the story. Season one attracted 2.4 million viewers across six episodes, and producers aim to build on that success by further cementing the show’s place on the global stage.

This year’s filming involves greater participation from local residents, with 30 supporting artists taking part and eight trainees gaining experience in partnership with Visit Jersey. Among them are apprentices working in technical departments, supporting with lighting, effects and on-set preparations.

The production team has emphasised the importance of giving opportunities to young people while contributing to the island’s economy and tourism profile.

Director Joss Agnew has highlighted plans to showcase Jersey’s landscapes more prominently, with familiar landmarks expected to feature throughout the season. In addition to Jersey, filming will also take place in Devon.

Production continues through September, with the series scheduled to air next year.
