Cancer patients get quicker access to medication

Faster Access to Medication for Cancer Treatment in Jersey

Cancer patients in Jersey can now get quicker access to essential medications, reducing time spent in the hospital and easing pressure on pharmacy and medical staff. The new system allows direct access to painkillers, antibiotics, anti-nausea tablets, laxatives, and other supportive treatments during routine and urgent appointments.

Previously, patients had to wait hours for prescriptions to be dispensed. Health staff say the change improves patient care and streamlines the treatment process.

As part of a wider cancer strategy, Jersey Library will host World Cancer Day, Closer to Home on Tuesday. The free event, running from 10:00-15:00 GMT, will offer discussions with medical leaders, charities, and support services.
