The newly revived version of Bergerac is heading to BBC screens this summer, with viewers also able to revisit episodes of the original classic series.
The updated drama, produced by UKTV, reimagines the much-loved detective show that was filmed in Jersey and originally aired for nine seasons from 1981 to 1991. Actor Damien Molony has stepped into the lead role made famous in the original series.
The second season of the reboot premiered in April, and speaking at the launch, Molony highlighted Jersey’s scenery as a major part of the programme’s appeal, saying the island plays a key role throughout the series.
During an appearance on BBC’s The One Show on Tuesday, presenter Alex Jones revealed the reboot would soon air on the BBC. Responding to the announcement, Molony said he was “thrilled” and described the move as “wonderful news”.
BBC Drama confirmed that both series are currently available to stream on U&Drama, while the first season will arrive on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two later this summer.
