A warning for gale-force winds has been issued across the Channel Islands, with forecasters cautioning that strong gusts are expected on Thursday.
Jersey Met said north-westerly winds in the Channel Islands shipping area could reach gusts of up to 45 knots. The strongest conditions are forecast between 07:00 and 12:00.
The morning is expected to begin rather cloudy, with a risk of showers, before brighter intervals develop later in the day. Gusts of up to 45mph (72km/h) are possible throughout Thursday.
John Searson, principal meteorological officer at Jersey Met, said most of the day should stay dry despite the blustery conditions.
“Westerly winds will be strong and quite gusty, with some gusts reaching 45mph early on,” he said. “The wind is a little stronger than we would ideally like.”
Following heavy rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday, forecasters expect Thursday to bring largely dry weather, aside from isolated showers and occasional sunny spells.
