Jersey Zoo Hopes to Boost Critically Endangered Duck Population

Jersey Zoo is hoping its endangered white-winged ducks will breed this year to help increase their dwindling numbers.

The species, native to Southeast Asia, is classified as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) due to pollution and habitat loss.

With an estimated 150 to 450 left in the wild, the zoo described them as "one of the rarest ducks in the world" and emphasised its role in captive breeding efforts to support conservation.
