A woman caught attempting to bring cocaine worth an estimated £14,000 into Jersey has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Lisa Danielle Ross, 39, from Ashford, arrived in the island on a flight from London on 19 December 2025 before being stopped by Jersey Customs and Immigration officers after a drugs detector dog gave a positive indication.
During questioning, Ross claimed she was staying in Jersey for one night to visit a friend named “Cody”, but was unable to provide his surname and said she believed he lived on a boat.
She later changed her account, telling officers that her brother, “Lewis”, was due to collect her.
Customs officers then carried out a swab test on her belongings, which returned a positive result for cocaine. Ross subsequently admitted to using the drug.
According to Jersey Customs and Immigration, Ross became “erratic and emotional” when officers began searching her and was arrested on suspicion of importing controlled drugs.

While being taken into custody, Ross removed a small clingfilm-wrapped package from her bra and attempted to place it in her mouth.
Officers restrained her and recovered the package, which contained 1.89g of cocaine.
A further search uncovered another package containing 54.39g of cocaine, which had been concealed internally.
Senior Manager at Jersey Customs and Immigration Service, Paul Le Monnier, said the case highlighted the seriousness of drug importation offences.
“This sentence reflects the serious nature of drug importation offences and the harm that controlled drugs cause within our community,” he said.
“The proactive work of officers, supported by the drugs detector dog, prevented a significant quantity of cocaine from reaching the streets of the island.
“Anyone attempting to import controlled drugs into Jersey should be aware that they will be detected, prosecuted and brought before the courts.”
