Winter Season Ice Rink Returns to the Weighbridge
Jersey’s popular Jersey on Ice rink will return to the Weighbridge this autumn, marking its fourth consecutive year at the Waterfront attraction.
The rink will open on Saturday 24 October, coinciding with the start of the October half-term, and will remain open throughout the festive period until Sunday 10 January 2027.
More than 22,000 people visited Jersey on Ice last winter, while the rink’s community programmes have also provided opportunities for local children and care home residents to take part.
In 2025, 1,238 primary school pupils used the rink through a free school visits programme. A further 61 care home residents were able to experience skating from their wheelchairs.
The 30m by 30m rink will operate daily during the school holidays, from 24 October to 1 November and again from 19 December to 3 January.
During term time, it will open from Wednesday to Sunday, including the final week before closing on 10 January. The rink will be closed on Christmas Day, with limited opening hours on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
The Jersey Development Company (JDC), which runs the attraction, is also continuing its support for the Jersey Stingrays ice hockey team and the Junior Stingrays programme.
The junior programme, which gives children aged five to 15 the opportunity to learn and play ice hockey, reached full capacity last year. JDC says it hopes its continued support will allow more young people to get involved.
JDC chief executive Lee Henry said the rink had become an established part of the Island’s festive calendar.
“The Ice Rink remains a valued community attraction during the festive season,” he said.
“Once again, we'll be inviting primary schools to bring their pupils to enjoy free skating sessions during term time, giving even more children the chance to experience the joy of ice skating.
“This year, the rink will feel larger, as we've removed the curling facility to create additional space for recreational skating. To further enhance the visitor experience, there will also be a dedicated children’s party zone.”
