Jersey War Tunnels plans new museum after securing rare WWII documents

Jersey War Tunnels has announced plans for a new wartime museum on its St Lawrence site, alongside the purchase of the rare Operation Nestegg document – the Allies’ secret plan to liberate the Channel Islands.

The 50-page file, stamped Top Secret, sold for £3,600 at auction earlier this month after being discovered in a box of papers in Derby. JWT has also acquired three original D-Day landing craft maps for Juno, Gold, and Sword Beaches.

Owner Lance Trevellyan said the acquisitions ensure vital history remains accessible to the public, adding that the new museum will showcase unseen artefacts and help boost visitor numbers to pre-pandemic levels.
