Island Prepares for 5G Rollout with Network Upgrades

Mobile network upgrades are currently taking place across Jersey as the island gears up for the introduction of a new 5G service.

Telecommunications provider Sure has announced that, ahead of the launch of its 5G network in 2026, it will carry out improvements to the island’s 18 existing mobile sites during November and December.

The company revealed in October plans to invest £100 million across the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man over the next five years, with nearly half of the funds earmarked to achieve full 5G coverage.

 “Live and work in Jersey”

Simon Baldwin, Sure’s chief commercial officer, said the new network would revolutionize how people “live and work in Jersey,” opening up opportunities for families, businesses, and the wider community.

He added that Sure was “future-proofing” its infrastructure, introducing advanced technology to provide faster speeds, stronger coverage, and enhanced reliability for customers.
