According to Jersey Fire and Rescue, crews were called to assist an English Bulldog named George Bullfrog, who had fallen onto a ledge about 15 metres (49 feet) below the cliff top on the island’s north coast at Bouley Bay.

Using a drone to pinpoint the dog’s exact location, rescuers then hiked roughly 1 kilometre (0.6 miles) to reach the spot before carefully climbing down to retrieve him.

The service said George was “very friendly and happy to see us,” adding that he was “absolutely fine after his adventure and remains full of energy.”

Because of the soft ground and steep terrain, a rope rescue was considered too risky. Instead, the team relied on natural anchor points to safely access the ledge.

Fire and Rescue praised George’s owner for “doing the right thing” by calling for help rather than attempting the dangerous descent themselves, urging others to follow the same advice in similar situations.
