A 14-year-old French tourist has been airlifted to the UK with serious injuries after being struck by a car in Jersey, police have said.

The collision happened on La Route des Genets near the Les Ruisseaux Estate between 17:10 and 17:15 BST on Wednesday. States of Jersey Police said the incident involved a grey Honda CR-V driven by a 70-year-old man and the teenage pedestrian, who suffered serious head injuries.

The girl was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Jersey General Hospital. She was later flown to Southampton for further treatment and is reported to be in a serious but stable condition.

Police said the driver was not injured and no arrests have been made while investigations continue. The vehicle is believed to have been travelling eastbound towards St Aubin’s at the time.

Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone who saw the vehicle before or after the collision to come forward.
