Supertri Final Set for Jersey Return as Elite Athletes Chase Major Prize

The world’s top triathletes will once again descend on Jersey’s Waterfront this autumn as Supertri confirms the return of its Pro Series Final in September.

The global triathlon organisation is bringing the season-ending event back to the island after reviving the race in 2025 following a four-year break.

Athletes will compete for a £600,000 prize purse in what organisers describe as the biggest one-day payout in triathlon this year.

Supertri Chief Executive and co-founder Michael D’hulst said the 2026 season marked an important step forward for the sport.

He said: “This is a huge year for Supertri as we bring together professional and amateur racing while continuing to grow triathlon globally.

“Our new Pro Series represents the highest level of short-course racing, and Jersey is the perfect setting for the final where the sport’s biggest stars will battle for the title and the largest one-day prize purse in triathlon.”

D’hulst added that Jersey remained closely connected to the competition’s identity and heritage.

“We consider Jersey to be the spiritual home of Supertri, so there is nowhere more fitting to host the Pro Series Final,” he said.

Last year’s event saw two local competitors unexpectedly earn places alongside elite international athletes, adding to strong local interest in the competition.

Organisers also hosted school visits, athlete question-and-answer sessions and grassroots coaching activities aimed at encouraging young people to take up the sport — initiatives expected to continue this year.

“We’re looking forward to working with Jersey Sport again to inspire even more people to get active,” D’hulst said.

Jersey Sport Chief Executive David Kennedy welcomed the event’s return.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Supertri back to Jersey in 2026,” he said.

“We look forward to building on previous successes and creating memorable experiences for competitors and spectators across the island once again.”

The 2026 series will feature a revised format, with athletes competing individually rather than in teams.

Three qualifying Pro Series events will take place before the Jersey final, opening the field to a broader range of elite athletes and allowing amateur competitors to race alongside professionals.

The top three men and women from each qualifying event will secure places in Jersey to face Supertri’s leading athletes.

Olympic champions Alex Yee and Cassandre Beaugrand have already confirmed their participation in the final.

The Supertri Pro Series Final is scheduled for 6 September and will form part of a packed weekend of endurance sport on the island.

The event will coincide with Swim Run Jersey and the JSAC Half Marathon, while the RBC Race for Kids fun run will also return after attracting around 1,000 participants and raising funds for Jersey Child Care Trust last year.
