Jersey Tourism Summit to Explore Growth Opportunities

A major summit next week will bring together business leaders and politicians to discuss strategies for strengthening Jersey’s tourism industry and increasing its economic contribution to the island.

The event, set to take place at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel in St Helier on Wednesday, is being organized by the Jersey Hospitality Association (JHA). It will feature key discussions on the future of the Visitor Economy Strategy and the role of the Future Economy Programme in shaping the island’s long-term economic direction.

Attendees will hear from a diverse range of speakers, including experts in global business development, European tourism, virtual economics, and tourism communications. The chief minister and the minister for sustainable economic development will also address the summit.

JHA chief executives Ana and Marcus Calvani emphasized the importance of identifying new opportunities to enhance Jersey’s visitor economy. “This is about exploring ways to benefit everyone, whether that’s by supporting local pubs and restaurants or attracting international visitors,” they said.

The summit follows the release of new figures from Visit Jersey, revealing that the island welcomed 568,000 tourists last year—an increase of 40,000 compared to 2023. The data showed that 70% of visitors came from the UK, 17% from France, and 3% from Germany.

With tourism playing a vital role in Jersey’s economy, the summit aims to spark fresh ideas and initiatives to drive future growth.
