Investigation and Stabilisation Work Planned for Gorey Pier
A planning application has been submitted to assess storm damage to Gorey Pier and determine the best approach for stabilisation.
The pier's landing stage has been closed since October 2023 due to deterioration, and further inspections will evaluate damage caused by Storm Ciaran. As a Grade 1 listed structure, any repairs require planning approval.
Engineers will conduct drilling along the pier to gather data, which may result in temporary access restrictions. Ports of Jersey’s Ande Vibert emphasized the importance of preserving historical sites and ensuring minimal disruption to summer visitors and boat owners.
The repair and stabilisation costs will be covered by Ports of Jersey, with no public funds involved.
