Jersey Tidal Trail Launched to Showcase Island’s Dramatic Coastline

A new walking trail inspired by some of the UK and Ireland’s most iconic routes has officially launched in Jersey, inviting locals and tourists alike to explore the island’s dramatic coastline and unique tidal landscape.

The Jersey Tidal Trail, modelled after the South West Coast Path in England and Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, spans over 48 miles (77km) and loops around the island. It takes in everything from ancient castles and hidden bunkers to rugged headlands and sweeping sea views, according to tourism agency Visit Jersey.

The initiative aims to both boost visitor numbers and encourage spending at local shops, hotels, and attractions positioned along the route.

Designed to suit a wide range of walkers, the trail is divided into sections with four graded difficulty levels: easy, moderate, challenging, and expert. Walkers can begin and end anywhere they choose, though Visit Jersey recommends a clockwise direction to align with signage and digital navigation tools.

“The trail is a celebration of Jersey’s natural beauty and rich heritage,” said a spokesperson for Visit Jersey. “It’s not just about the walk – it’s about the experience, the discovery, and the local businesses it supports along the way.”

The full route can be accessed on popular hiking apps Komoot and Strava, making it easy for visitors to plan and track their journey.

The new trail is the latest in a series of efforts to promote Jersey as a year-round destination for eco-tourism and outdoor adventure, while also giving returning visitors something new to explore.
