Jersey Government Still at Risk of Fraud, Says PAC Report

The Government of Jersey remains vulnerable to fraud, according to a recent report from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). In November, the committee presented its findings to the States, identifying 20 key areas in need of improvement to reduce fraud risks. Among the recommendations was the appointment of a dedicated counter-fraud and corruption manager.

While the government has accepted these recommendations, the PAC warned on Friday that without a "clear timescale" for implementation, the risks would persist.

In its response, the committee stated: "There is no clear timescale to address all 20 key areas, and this work may take several years. As a result, the government remains exposed to risk in the meantime.

"To mitigate this, the government should take action and develop a plan that sets out a clear schedule for prioritizing these areas based on their risk profile."
