Jersey Swimmers Raise Funds for Quadruple Amputee on 24th Birthday

Swimmers in Jersey have raised more than £500 to support Lily McGarry, a former junior Team GB triathlete who lost all four limbs after developing sepsis earlier this year.
The fundraising swim, held by the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club on Tuesday evening, marked Lily's 24th birthday. Despite wet and windy conditions, dozens took part in the event.
Lily, who fell seriously ill in Wales and spent months in intensive care, is now recovering in hospital. Known for her athletic talent and positive spirit, she remains a well-loved member of the swimming community.
The event was organised by Billie Cave, who swam alongside Lily at the 2015 Island Games. "She’s a lovely girl," Cave said. "Even at 14, she was encouraging and supportive — it says so much about her character."
