Peugeot with Rare Number Plate Sells for £230,000 at Jersey Auction
A 2012 Peugeot hatchback has sold for an eye-watering £230,000—thanks to its rare two-digit number plate.
The black five-door Peugeot Ion, showing just over 53,000 miles on the clock, went under the hammer with the registration plate J69. Jersey auction house Simon Drieu & Co Limited listed the vehicle with a starting price of £100,000.
After a competitive bidding war involving four participants on Thursday, the final sale price more than doubled the initial estimate.
Jersey has a history of high-value plate sales. Back in 2013, the JSY1 plate fetched £65,000—making the latest sale a new standout in the island's auction records.
