Public Consultation to Begin on Fort Regent Sports Centre Plans

Islanders will soon have the chance to share their views on plans for a new sports centre at Fort Regent, as the Government of Jersey launches a public consultation on 2 April.

The sports hub is set to close at the end of the year to allow for essential maintenance and upgrades, with work scheduled to begin in January. The government has outlined plans for a "completely regenerated" facility, which is expected to reopen by the end of 2028.

A Fresh Approach

Infrastructure Minister Constable Andy Jehan emphasized the need for a modern, revitalized space. "We need a new vision for the Fort, and a plan to create an exciting, modern facility for the island," he said.

The government’s development partner, the States of Jersey Development Company, will lead the consultation process, mirroring the approach taken for the recent waterfront redevelopment plans.

At the beginning of March, Jehan confirmed that sporting groups currently based at Fort Regent would need to vacate the site by the end of the year, as the upcoming works would not be possible while the facility remains in use. However, the government has pledged to support affected clubs in relocating to alternative venues across the island, including Springfield, Oakfield, Les Quennevais, and local schools.
