Inmates at HMP La Moye Receive Free Festive Photo Shoot to Reconnect with Families
Prisoners at HMP La Moye are being offered a free festive photo shoot today (20 December) to help reconnect fathers behind bars with their children this Christmas.
The initiative is part of a collaborative effort by James' Ark, a local charity supporting separated families, and Dreamcatcher Jersey Photography. The goal is to create meaningful mementos for families, allowing them to feel closer despite physical separation.
Organisers James Cunningham and Aneta Jeziorska-Entwistle hope the project will strengthen family bonds during the holiday season.
This follows a similar event held on 14 December, where other separated families across the island participated in a dedicated photo session.
James Cunningham, the founder of James' Ark, emphasised the significance of the initiative for inmates:
“Prisoners can take a photo with their children during family visits, which they can keep in their cell. It acts as a powerful motivator for rehabilitation and a fresh start.
"I've worked with many dads who see these moments as a turning point, realizing, 'If I'm going to change, it's going to be for them.'"
Today's event, running from 3:30 to 7:00 pm, is free for families, although donations to support the initiative are welcome.
