Ports of Jersey Plans Ramp Reinforcement at Elizabeth Harbour

Ports of Jersey has submitted a planning application to carry out structural improvements to a pedestrian ramp at Elizabeth Harbour in St Helier.

The proposal involves replacing a key support element—referred to as a "bankseat"—which serves one of the access ramps to the Albert Pier pontoons.

According to a Ports spokesperson, the existing bankseat was originally constructed to support roll-on roll-off ferry operations, but the underlying support piles have deteriorated significantly over time. Subject to approval, the project is scheduled to commence next year and is expected to take approximately six months to complete.

While some minor disruption is anticipated during the construction period, Ports of Jersey has assured the public that access to the end of the pier—for local businesses, anglers, and pedestrians—will be maintained throughout the initial demolition phase.
