Memorial Garden Planned for Haut du Mont Explosion Site
The Jersey government has revealed detailed proposals for a memorial to honour those who lost their lives in the Haut du Mont explosion in St Helier.
Following a series of public consultations, the plans include a children’s garden and new footpaths, designed to create a welcoming and reflective space for families and visitors.
A small meadow, along with dedicated seating areas, will provide quiet places for remembrance on part of the land where the demolished flats once stood.
To ensure privacy and a sense of seclusion, the design also features new trees and hedges shielding the garden from nearby roads and surrounding walls.
