Private Prep School Evicted Over £70k Rent Debt
St Christopher’s Preparatory School has been evicted from its premises by the Parish of St Clement after failing to pay more than £70,000 in rent.
The Petty Debts Court issued multiple orders against the school, including an eviction notice and a requirement to pay the parish roughly £74,000 in overdue rent plus legal expenses.
At its latest external inspection in 2023, the school had 68 pupils aged between three and 11 on its register.
According to the government, staff told the BBC in July that all current pupils had secured alternative school places. Officials added that the Education Department was informed staff were helping families adjust to the transition.
Founded in 1964, St Christopher’s operated for 35 years at Stopford Road in St Helier before relocating in 2006 to the St Clement-owned property from which it has now been removed.
