Jersey Sport Launches Initiative to Honour Local Sports Volunteers

Jersey Sport has introduced a new initiative to recognise and reward the contributions of volunteers who help sustain the island’s sports community.

The 'Volunteer Support Scheme' aims to celebrate the dedication of individuals who give their time to local sports teams and organisations, including coaches, officials, board members, caterers, and transport supporters.

Nominations can be submitted online by the 15th of each month, with the selected volunteers announced in the final week. Honoured individuals will receive a plaque from Jersey Sport, while their respective organisations will be awarded £200.

David Kennedy, CEO of Jersey Sport, highlighted the vital role volunteers play in the island’s sports scene:

"We are fortunate to have so many dedicated islanders who give their time and energy to support and develop local sport. Through this scheme, we want to show our appreciation and inspire the next generation of volunteers."

To be eligible for funding, sports organisations must hold a Green status under Jersey Sport’s Safe and Sustainable Sport Health Check.
