New head of Jersey Overseas Aid agency announced

Former UN Worker Appointed as Jersey Overseas Aid Director

Edward Lewis, a former United Nations worker, has been appointed executive director of Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA) after serving as interim leader following the death of his predecessor, Simon Boas, last year.

Lewis, who joined JOA seven years ago, previously worked in sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. He has played a key role in managing the agency’s development and humanitarian programs. Minister for International Development Carolyn Labey praised his skills and experience, highlighting his leadership in professionalizing the organization.

Lewis said he was honoured to lead JOA and aimed to build on its strong reputation. His responsibilities will include hosting government and UN representatives while ensuring continued humanitarian support for communities affected by conflict and disasters. JOA also remains committed to offering career and volunteer opportunities in international development.
