Highlands College Unveils Creative New Courses for Adults This Autumn

Highlands College in Jersey is rolling out a new wave of adult education courses and workshops designed to fit around busy lifestyles and tighter budgets.

Launching this autumn, the expanded programme comes from the Adult and Community Education (ACE) team, which aims to make learning more accessible and flexible for adult learners.

Amanda Berry, head of ACE, said the new offerings are tailored for people who may only have time or money for shorter commitments.

“We’ve focused on short-term courses and one-off workshops that are easy to fit into everyday life,” she explained. “Some of the new additions include singing, beginner guitar, floristry, Tai Chi, mindfulness, and somatic movement.”

Popular returning subjects such as pottery, criminology, and drawing are also back by demand.

ACE is also introducing some more unusual sessions this year, including workshops on astrology, Polish cooking, and even a celebration marking the anniversary of Jane Austen.

“We really do have something for everyone,” Berry added.
