Ministers Pledge Action on PFAS Concerns

Jersey’s ministers have vowed to tackle PFAS contamination after a petition, signed by over 1,200 people, called for cleaner water, a treatment plant, and improved healthcare.

Environment Minister Steve Luce reaffirmed the government’s commitment to water safety, highlighting Jersey Water’s compliance with UK and EU standards and plans for stricter regulations. He said treatment solutions, like Australia’s $30m facility, were being considered.

Health Minister Tom Binet emphasised ongoing efforts to address health impacts, including an independent scientific review and future interventions like blood testing. A hydrogeological survey is also set to assess environmental effects.
