Millbrook Park to Launch Interactive Story Trail with ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit’

Families visiting Millbrook Park will soon be able to enjoy a unique, immersive reading experience as a new Story Trail launches on Mother's Day. The first featured book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, will come to life through interactive storytelling sessions with local authors and hands-on creative activities.

The trail allows children to follow Peter Rabbit’s mischievous adventures through Mr. McGregor’s garden while exploring the park. Organisers have designed the experience to blend literacy development with outdoor fun.

Following the launch, the Story Trail will become a permanent attraction, with different books rotated throughout the year. The initiative, led by the children's charity Every Child Our Future, aims to make reading more engaging by displaying pages of a book along a scenic path.

Cris Lakeman, CEO of the charity, emphasized the benefits of the project: "It’s a fantastic way to bring books to life in a fun, interactive, and outdoor setting. It encourages literacy, physical activity, and community engagement."

Local author Penny Byrne will join the event for live readings, and children can look forward to book giveaways and possibly an Easter treat.

The free launch event takes place on Sunday, March 30, from 10 AM to 1 PM, with tickets available via Eventbrite.
