A driver has been arrested after a collision in St Helier left a cyclist in hospital.

Emergency services were called just before midday on Wednesday to New North Quay, close to the Steam Clock, following reports of a crash between a car and a bicycle.

The cyclist was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.

According to Jersey Police, the motorist was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has since been released while inquiries continue.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses, particularly another cyclist believed to have been in the area at the time.

Anyone with information is urged to call Jersey Police or provide details anonymously via Crimestoppers.
