Les Quennevais Parade and Precinct in west Jersey may be one step closer to regeneration, as the Council of Ministers prepares to back a proposition calling for the area to be prioritised.

The initiative, put forward by St Brelade Deputy Helen Miles, asks for the shopping precinct to be included in the Future-Fit Retail Roadmap and the West of Island Planning Framework, both key guides for Jersey’s development. It also requests that Les Quennevais be considered in work by the Regeneration Steering Group, which oversees new development projects.

“Detailed scheme”

The Council of Ministers has lodged an amendment adjusting the wording of the proposition, removing reference to a “detailed scheme” and noting that the Steering Group meets frequently, so standing agenda items are unnecessary. Deputy Miles has indicated she will accept the amendments.

A second proposition from Deputy Miles, concerning commercial leases, has been moved to the next States sitting to allow for input from Economic Development Minister Kirsten Morel.
