The highest level of tide warning has been issued for Jersey on Saturday morning, with further disruption expected on Friday evening.

The Jersey Met Office has объявлено a red warning for the high tide at 06:54 GMT on Saturday, meaning significant disruption is expected. Large waves could crash over sea walls along the south, east and west coasts, and some coastal roads may be closed as a result.

An orange warning has also been put in place for Friday evening’s high tide at 18:35 GMT. Strong winds and large waves are forecast, which could lead to seawater and debris being thrown over sea walls.

Roads in coastal areas may be affected by seawater and debris, and some localised flooding is possible.

Jersey Met’s senior forecaster, John Searson, urged islanders to be cautious, particularly in the period around an hour before and after the high tides. He advised people to avoid coastal areas where waves and debris are likely to come over sea defences.

Residents are being advised to allow extra time for journeys, take extra care, and expect travel disruption over the coming days.
