La Pouquelaye closed as Jersey Water carries out emergency repairs

La Pouquelaye in St Helier has been closed to traffic while Jersey Water carries out emergency repairs to a leak, with delays and diversions expected throughout Thursday, 15 October.
The road is expected to remain affected for much of the day, and motorists are being urged to avoid the area where possible.
Jersey Water said the leak was not connected to the major incident in December 2024, when a burst water main caused a sinkhole that damaged buildings and led to the road being closed for several months.
However, in light of the ground conditions and the disruption caused by the previous incident, the utility company said it would carry out a full inspection of the area while the road surface was excavated.
Bus services will also be diverted while the repair work is under way.
Jersey Water said nearby properties were not expected to experience any interruption to their water supply.
Residents who notice any problems with their supply have been asked to contact Jersey Water Customer Services on 01534 707300.
